Twentythree Records - is home to Fila Brazillia, Heights of Abraham, Mandrillus Sphynx and The Solid Doctor.
The label was founded in 1999 by Steve Cobby and David McSherry of Fila Brazillia along with Sim Lister of Heights of Abraham. From the early 90s to 1999 both Fila and Heights had been part of the distinctive Hull-based label Pork Recordings ("Pork material is always quirky and surprising, quite brilliant" DJ Magazine 1994) - before transferring their catalogues to Twentythree Records.
In 2006 Cobby and Lister went on to establish Steel Tiger Records; home to J*S*T*A*R*S and The Cutler. Rob da Bank (BBC Radio 1) said "Beautiful! Lovin' The Cutler. Ace to hear some proper downtempo music being made again"

Fila Brazillia
"For 10 years, Cobby and fellow Fila Dave McSherry have been creating diverse, adventurous sounds. Spacious, chilled and always highly musical, their six albums for Pork Records put the tiny Hull, U.K., label on the map by surprising and delighting heads and hearts around the globe. And they did this without interviews, press photos or advertising -- no small feat in the pre-international 'net-work days." - Denise Benson 2001
Heights of Abraham
""You should never pander to expectations" insists Steve. "'Top of The Pops' IS International cabaret and everything else is folk music. Heights are like heretics, barking at the mainstream and telling them how shit they are!" - Melody Maker 1995
Mandrillus Sphynx
Mandrillus Sphynx is soon to be deleted from the 23 catalogue. You can now download 'Ban Music' (720kbps - 322mb) for free from bandcamp.com
The Solid Doctor
"Solid Doctor is Steve Cobby - half of Fila Brazillia, the masters of Pork Recordings. These tracks are very phat, way large beats and some amazingly soulful samples. The 2 discs break down into very atmospheric downtempo and more dancefloor (though not your usual thumpathump techno by a long shot). Very highly recommended." - 'How About Some Ether' Amazon 1999
